Help Needed!!!

For the past 21 years my family and I have organized the Cadillac Challenge Century as a labor of love, a chance to give back to the cycling community a small part of what that community has given us.  We have shared those memorable days with old friends and made new ones.  We have watched our children participate as preschoolers, teenagers, go off to college, get married, but always return to be part of the Cadillac Challenge.  Although we will always treasure the last 21 years, the time has come for the Mourkas family to move on to other challenges in life.

During the last several years Dean Read has stepped up and made quite significant contributions to the ride.  In fact, the Cadillac Challenge would probably have faded away several years ago were it not for Dean’s assistance. Dean has offered the coordinate efforts to keep the ride alive *ONLY* if true volunteer commitments from others can be secured.  Help is needed at rest stops, driving sag wagons, marking the course, maintaining a web presence, and all the other chores necessary before, during, and after the event.

Arranging for adequate volunteers for this event has always been a challenge.  Most years we just barely have had enough to provide a minimum of support for the riders.  Unless adequate support from volunteers can be firmly established by August 31, 2013 at the very latest, the Cadillac Challenge will be canceled for 2013 and will most likely fade into oblivion.  That would truly be a shame.  Please consider helping to keep the ride alive.

Thanks for the memories,

Tony, Anne, Maggie, Michael Mourkas
